Wondering what to do this Saturday, Sept. 25th? Not if you live in Wauwatosa! You can start your day by cleaning house and taking up to 3 bags or boxes per person to the Shred-It Event at the Wauwatosa City Hall parking lot, held from 8 am to 1 pm.

Next head down to the Little Red Store in the Village and get some exercise for a great cause. Take part in either the Little Red Ride (2 mi) or the Big Red Ride (13 mi)http://www.wauwatosahistoricalsociety.org/LRR2010.htm. There will be refreshments after the rides and all participants will receive a T shirt, water bottle and goody bag. You can save money by registering online ahead of the ride at http://www.active.com/cycling/wauwatosa-wi/2nd-annual-little-red-ride-and-big-red-ride-2010.

Then be sure to do some shopping at the Farmer’s Market, open until 3 pm this Saturday only, then cross the bridge to the very first VillageGreen Street Fair. Organized by the Village of Wauwatosa Business Improvement District (BID), the event is designed to raise awareness of green, organic, and eco-friendly products and services and will be held from 10 am to 4 pm, in the heart of the village on State St, and on Harwood & Underwood Avenues.

There will be exhibitors, food demonstrations, live music all day and 2 stages with speakers on a variety of green topics, ranging from biking for health to worm composting. See their web site for a complete schedule of events: http://www.villagegreenstreetfair.com. There will also be a children’s area featuring face painting, crafts, story reading and more. Speaking of children, don’t forget to bring your gently used children’s books with you to to the fair, to donate to Books for Kids. As a thank you for your donation, you will receive 15% discount on a new eco-friendly book from exhibitor Barefoot Books.

If wine tasting is more your speed, stop by Ristorante Bartolotta. Wine director Marc Beaudoin will be at the restaurant at 2 pm. The northern Alpine region of Alto Adige will be featured. Who knows, you may just find a new favorite!

As you can see, it really is not a question of what is there to do, but instead, how do I fit it all in? No matter what you end up doing this Saturday, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Remember, Live Local!
